Hello all,

Here is our route for Saturday.  Not sure how long everyone wants to run but I thought we can all handle at 12.6  We meet at Camels Back at 7.25 ready for the run at 7:30.  Breakfast to follow at Parillas.

Boston training for me calls for 16.  So depending on how much energy I will have left I will add another  3.4 and skip breakfast.  Do I have any takers for the extra 3 miles.

Alright, we're trying again with the trails this week.

Time:  Meet at 7:25, run at 7:30am
Place:  Camels Back Park, by the tennis courts
Route:  10ish miles (or there is an adder option to make it 12!) - Take #36 Red Fox Trail to #29 Lower Hulls Gulch Trail.  Take a right at #4 8th Street Motorcycle Trail, and then right again at #24 Sidewinder Trail.  At #28 Crestline Trail take a left, and follow until you connect with #39A Kestrel Trail.  From here you may choose to connect with #39 Red Cliffs Trail and then do another loop around Kestrel, which will add about 2 miles, or you may skip the extra loop and head back to the start.  From Kestrel, take a left at #37 Owl's Roost.  Cross the road at the parking lot, and make your way back to Red Fox Trail and Camels Back Park.

Place:  Bardenay in Eagle
Route:  Out and back on the greenbelt, 10 miles total.  Turnaround is just past the Glenwood bridge.  Feel free to add or subtract distance as your schedule sees fit.

For those running the Zeitgeist half-marathon this Saturday, good luck and have fun!!

For others, here's a quick route that you may feel free to extend if you are looking for a longer run:

Route:  Should be just under 9 miles--  Start at Municipal Park.  Head west until you get to the Main Street bridge.  Cross the bridge and continue heading west on the south side of the river.  Turnaround is at Veterans Parkway bridge, go back the same way you came to finish at Municipal Park.
View map here:   http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/56583630
Start Time:  Meet at 7:55am, run begins at 8:00am.  Yes 8:00... it's dark these days!!
Breakfast:  Big City... unless Todd can talk you into trying the bacon place. ;)

October 29th

Here's the details - Since folks are looking for long and flat, we'll follow suit:

For those looking for 18 miles:
7:00 start at Warm Springs Golf Course. Head out to Lucky Peak, loop around Sandy Point twice, back to Barber Park, along Parcenter, by Terry's estate, across the Orange Bridge and back to the club house.
If you are looking for shorter distance - skip the loops around the park and return the same way.

Those running 7-8 Miles - we get to sleep in! In order for everyone to be done around the same time so we can enjoy the noshing of breakfast at Locavore together:
8:15 start at Warm Springs Golf Course. Run the loop up Warm Springs, around towards Barber Park, through the nature Trail and back via orange bridge.  In case the distance isn't correct, add more on either side of the golf course.

Fellow Slothsters:

This week we hit the Greenbelt for a figure-8 loop posted by TerrySloth on MapMyRun, however, I extended it by just a tad so it's an even 13.0! PLEASE READ DIRECTIONS, so as not to get lost.

Place: Julia Davis Park, Tennis Courts parking lot
Time: 7:00 - run time at 7:05
Distance: 13.0
Breakfast: Big City

http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/52549626/

This is the tricky part:
1) We start at Julia Davis and head up stream towards Municipal Park and the orange Bridge.
2) Once you hit the bridge, cross the river and turn LEFT and continue upstream another .40, until mile marker 2.4.  3) Turn around and head back downstream on the same side of the river.
4) Cross the river at the Pioneer Footbridge (?) in Ann Morrison and through Shoreline, heading up the Orchard Street out and back.
5) Once back onto the greenbelt, head to Veterans and then cross at the Veteran's Parkway bridge to the south side
of the river. Pass Joe's Crab Shack and cross the river again.
6) Head back to the start at Julia Davis Park.

Confused? Just run, your legs know what to do :)

See you Saturday!

(p.s. if my Achilles isn't feeling hot, I will see you all in a few weeks! I'm out next week but will post the run before I head to Sun Valley).

Start Time - 7:00am
Start Place - Parking lot at end of Shaw Mountain Rd/Rocky Canyon (where pavement ends)
Route -

Here is a verbal description of the route:

·         Start in the parking area at the end of the paved road Shaw Mountain/Rocky Canyon.

·         Head up Rocky Canyon past the "second cattle guard".

·         Turn left in to Five Mile Gulch (before making the sharp right turn leading to the dead tree)

·         It is single track here and there are a couple of stream crossings that should not be too difficult.

·         The trail splits after a  couple of miles towards Ridge Road (to the right) and Watchman (leftish). There is a guide post that identifies the trail.

·         Follow the Watchman trail that runs along the ridge and climbs all the way to the top of Three Bears.

·         Head down Big Bear Trail and come out at the top of Shane's Loop.

·         Follow Shane's Loop staying to the right ("northwest" direction) down to the Central Ridge Trail. If you are looking for a shorter route, this is the spot to drop off to the left and back into Rocky Canyon.

·         Complete Shane's Loop heading back up towards Three Bears but drop into Rocky Canyon instead of climbing back up to the ridge.

·         Head back to the parking area down Rocky Canyon.

Since I cannot measure the distance I am going from memory. I estimate that this will give us 13-14 miles. Here is a map of the Watchman Trail to help you orient yourself. It is NOT the actual route, missing the Shane's Trail portion and the initial climb into Rocky Canyon.
